I Love You

In your eyes I see love, I see life, the will of the free
and when I watch the sun set over the sea,
I want to be the cool breeze that blows into your heart,
the very wind that whispers "I love you"

In the oceans so vast, so blue and so mighty
I feel your breath, your heartbeat, see your spirit fly free
So close, yet so far away, but always so true
like my longing, my desire for you

I have found my angel and she has found me
beyond eternal hopes and the sweetest of dreams,
the caressing wind whispers to me, so all can see
that I now believe in fate and destiny

I cannot explain the meaning of life
I cannot ever express what I feel for you
But I know these three words of wonder;
My darling, "I love you"

Vier Bäume

I had to go on a business trip to Northern Italy and Southern Germany two weeks ago. Since I knew that it would come with a crazy and strenuous travelling schedule, I was not sure if I should bring my camera along. But there was snow forecasted for Germany and I eventually decided to bring a minimal setup with me: only the camera body with one lens, no filters, no tripod. Unfortunately, I fell sick right at the last weekend where I had two days available to myself. Still I managed making a couple of photos I like. This is the first of a small series about Winter in the Ries.

"Middleton Mower" - Middleton Place

Here's another shot I took this past weekend. This was just a single RAW file which I processed in Lightroom and Photoshop with Nik Dfine and Color Efex Pro, as well as PhotoTools.

Κάθαρσις | Catharsis II – forgotten dreams
(catharsis = purification, renewal, reborn of the soul and spirit through art)
Metsovo, Pindus Mountains, Greece

Second image in my Catharsis series.
Another glance over this extreme white, over a scene so pure that it makes you forget how the  world looks like in reality.  Standing there, in the middle of this snow storm, I had a very powerful sensation of ease and a  “happy for  no reason” kind of feeling.  For a moment I had the impression that I don't care about anything else in the world than the scene in front of me and I'm wondering if that was produced by the scene  itself or it was something that had to do more with how I interpreted and lived the moment. Any way it might have been, it was such a great feeling that I didn't want to leave that place till I ended up completely frozen (me, camera and all my filters).
...and now I should tell you about the mulled wine that I had afterwards to help me warm up, but that's for another story :)

Unibison, “Where’d everyone go?”

Earlier this month when we had a morning snow, I headed out on the unplowed roads to see what the local American Bison were up to.  I found this little guy out in the field looking a bit lost.  His pals were actually not far off though, eating hay and frolicking in the snow.  He soon joined them.  Here's some information on the herd of American Bison here in Switzerland:  http://goo.gl/ll9br

Last light

Washington's Palouse Falls at twilight in early summer.

Because my 18mm-equivalent 12-24 wasn't wide enough for a pleasing single-shot horizontal comp from this vantage, a panoramic stitch was required.

Five exposures total:
- Three verticals stitched for the landscape: 30s, ISO 100, f/8
- One horizontal for the sky (for dynamic range): 2s, ISO 100, f/8
- One horizontal for the stars 1/2 hour later: 30s, ISO 1600, f/4

What is Plus Extract?

It's your DAILY dose of TOP Google Plus photographs, which were chosen by an algorithm that combines automatic steps and manual curation. This means that the DAILY TOPs are NOT based solely on popularity, and users with a small number of followers have a chance to be featured in the TOP. We use Google+ API for the automatic steps; Jarek Klimek is responsible for curation and communication with the authors.

We strongly respect the authors and their rights. +Jarek Klimek contacts every photographer featured in all DAILY TOPs and if any author decides that he/she doesn't want to be featured in the TOP, we respect this absolutely.

Catherine Hall About us and Google+

Google+ has flourished into a bustling online community for photographers – and one reason is the exceptional contribution of early adopters such as Jarek Klimek, Editor of PhotoExtract magazine.

Jarek had the foresight to research the new social network and created an authoritative list of photographers to follow on Google+.

His viral list has not only become one of the top referring resources of photography trailblazers, it is also shared and watched by leaders such as Guy Kawasaki, Robert Scoble and Darren Rowse.

Jarek has helped introduce the work of great photographers to Google+ photography enthusiasts and I was very excited to share his insights with viewers on TWiT Photo.
