It's been difficult getting out and about shooting recently due to personal circumstances, but I managed to get out yesterday for a few hours in the excellent company of Richard Curtis from Adobe. Time was limited, and the weather was pretty moody, but we managed to get some acceptable shots off. This shot was taken by the River Coupall at the entrance to Glen Etive. I also have a colour version which captured the strangest contrasty light which I'll post later.

Hey everyone!  Sorry i've been a social networking slacker for the past few months.  +Athena Carey & +Grant Murray got me all jazzed up to post something today.  Thanks you two rockstars for the motivation.  And just fyi i have been out shooting like crazy so I should have lots more to share when i get around to processing :)  This was taken of Mt Rundle (near Banff) from last February. Happy Monday!

Another shot re-done in B&W.  I must admit that much is lost by removing the colourful sunset - but I still like how the lack of colour turns the focus on other aspects of the shot.

Nesting Bee-eaters

Carmine Bee-eaters have returned to South Luangwa and are now nesting along the banks of the river.

This goes out to +Alan Owens  who happended to be there too on this memorable sunset at Giants Causeway. I just learned that he was there after our vacation. Seeing his great shots of the causeway I thought the light looked familiar :-) Make sure to head over to his profile and check out his photos. He had nearly the same route through northern ireland and donegal that we had, only one day ahead of us.

This photo was the last I took on this evening. The light couldn't get any better but it lasted. I was packing my gear and we walked back to the car, time and again looking out over the sea with the still glowing sky. I think it took maybe another 30 minutes till the color was finally gone and only blue remained. All in all this was nearly 90 Minutes of photolight, just awesome!

"hairy she-cat" ( la gatta pelosa)

 this is the name given to this kind of caterpillar of the moth  Hyphantria cunea, the Processionary,  in this last days in the land around Pavia there is an invasion of these caterpillars,  very pest for the plants, of which eat all the foliage,  and urticant for people, it's a real drama if common, health authorities and forestry will not do anything

questo è il  nome dato a questo tipo di bruchi del lepidottero Hyphantria cunea, la Processionaria, in questi ultimi giorni nel Pavese c'è un'invasione di questi bruchi, molto nocivi per le piante, di cui mangiano tutto il fogliame ed urticanti per la gente, è un vero dramma se il comune, le autorità sanitarie e la forestale non faranno niente
