Lonely ♥ in Iceland

I was hiking in this beautiful mountain area called Landmannalaugar (hard to pronounce isn'it?) when I noticed this patch of snow further down.
It immediately made me think of a lonely heart lost in the middle of the mountains.

Have you noticed it?

Starting this weekend I will be away in holidays with my family for a while. I will have only limited access to Internet, so
please forgive me if I miss some of your great work!

Have a great weekend!

+Gary Crabbe started a great Friday theme entitled #fridaygetaway  . I haven't participated much, as I shoot mostly pure landscapes and nature without any people or human-made objects.

But here is one from my recent trip to The Wave permit area of the Coyote Buttes North. The lovely +kendra karr is resting in the shade of a massive sandstone wall to take a break from the desert heat. About mid-day, we had some nice clouds roll through.

Sunflowers near Denver International Airport, Denver Colorado

Out scouting a couple of evenings ago, found this nice field of sunflowers out near the DIA.  The pointed roof of the airport's great hall and the controller's tower are seen along the horizon.  Had hoped for a better sunset, but the storm clouds were heavier than I had hoped for.

Single exposure, adjusted in Lightroom.  The clouds were pretty flat, so I masked separately and used Nik Software's Color Efex Pro to bring out some additional detail.

Mont St.Michel in the fog

Some time back I posted a similar photo, but this is rather the one I love most from a series of 3-4.

Visiting Mont St.Michel in France was a dream for many years that came true in 2006. Although it was midsummer and the place gets really crowded, we were lucky to find a decent (and not expensive) hotel as close as possible.
So after taking some nice night shots of the place you can guess that sleep was not my first priority, so I was up at around 6:00am. Had a look outside the window and could not see my own nose due to heavy fog! Wow!
Dressed ASAP and drove fast to the castle (fast is relative as I could barely see the bonnet of the car...)
After reaching at the parking (and managing not to crash on the fortress walls...) I started walking around the castle and tried to find a good angle to be ready to shoot when the fog would start to clear up. I got to this spot where I shot this photo, barely seeing the top of the church and imagining that something good would appear as the fog would get thinner.

Well as you can see here, I was not dissapointed and as the fog started to clear I was very lucky to have these Japanese girls wandering around (the very first tourists to arrive) giving the photo a sense of depth and scale.
Some wonderful memories I have to say...

Help me caption this in +Lotus Carroll Style
#landscapephotography , #photographyworkflow , #howtophotograph

The best thing about G+ is the insipration one gets looking and interaction with other photographer/bloggers/artistic/Geeks/Pick_Your_Own_Category. I have always admired +Alan Shapiro stunning floral displays and +Lotus Carroll's uncanny ability to caption her posts. So here is my feeble attempt to pull of a photo like +Alan Shapiro...and I am totally lost when it comes to captioning. ;)))

How was this photograph created?
I took this photo few years ago in Rocky Mountain National Park while playing with my new Canon 180mm Macro. I used Liveview to set the focus while lying down in dirt, mud, grass...and desperately trying to avoid the poison ivy plants. Why go through all the trouble? because by getting low on the ground was able to get the background like I wanted...Spring Green. Had I taken the shot from the higher angle, I would have good dirt and ugly brown background.

What is Plus Extract?

It's your DAILY dose of TOP Google Plus photographs, which were chosen by an algorithm that combines automatic steps and manual curation. This means that the DAILY TOPs are NOT based solely on popularity, and users with a small number of followers have a chance to be featured in the TOP. We use Google+ API for the automatic steps; Jarek Klimek is responsible for curation and communication with the authors.

We strongly respect the authors and their rights. +Jarek Klimek contacts every photographer featured in all DAILY TOPs and if any author decides that he/she doesn't want to be featured in the TOP, we respect this absolutely.

Catherine Hall About us and Google+

Google+ has flourished into a bustling online community for photographers – and one reason is the exceptional contribution of early adopters such as Jarek Klimek, Editor of PhotoExtract magazine.

Jarek had the foresight to research the new social network and created an authoritative list of photographers to follow on Google+.

His viral list has not only become one of the top referring resources of photography trailblazers, it is also shared and watched by leaders such as Guy Kawasaki, Robert Scoble and Darren Rowse.

Jarek has helped introduce the work of great photographers to Google+ photography enthusiasts and I was very excited to share his insights with viewers on TWiT Photo.
