Maybe some of you noticed my absence here. I've been travelling through Northern Ireland and Donegal for one week and I really had some great photo opportunities.

Here's a photo I took during a memorable sunset at Giant's Causeway in County Antrim. This was maybe the best sunset I have ever witnessed. The day had been all cloudy and rainy and there was no sign of change till two hours before sunset when finally the sun got through. But after a short stay it went off behind some clouds again and the sunset seemed to become very grey. Anyway we went to the Causeway since it was the only evening left in Antrim.

It started out grey. Me and the other photographers present were a bit sceptical if  there would be some color. Then finally the sun peaked through again and what came after was nearly one hour of insane color. Really insane, it looked photoshopped even before I took the photos. And I took many :-)

I used a lee 0.6 soft and hard gnd here for the sky and also used Focus Stacking to get everything sharp in the picture.

I think the other photos will have to wait. I need some time to find out which photos to process. All together I took over 100 different comps during the 7 days, which makes 800 photos in total. I always do some focus stacking and bracketing while on vacation so one photo always means between 3 and 10 raws. Who knows when again I'll be there and I don't take chances ;-) I'm now going through the shots and delete what I don't need. Stay tuned

I was going through some old pictures this weekend and found a few that I never got around to processing. Good thing, because I have learned so much from this community since taking this one. Definitely applied some of my new skills. Have a blessed week y'all!!!

"Storm Clouds over Sunflower Fields"
Denver, CO 80211

One of my favorite months in Colorado is August. Why? Not only are Sunflowers in bloom, but Denver typically gets some pretty amazing afternoon summer storms. Last year I remember nearly 10 days in a row where I had epic sunsets because of afternoon showers. This particular sunflower field went on for miles and miles. I can't wait to start looking for the new fields once I get back to Denver this weekend.

On another note, I am one of the keynote speakers at the Colorado Photography Festival. There will be talks, lightroom classes and photo workshops as part of the event. Entry is only $150 and it is August 11th-13th. http://www.coloradophotographyfestival.com/

Camera Info:
Camera: Canon 1D Mark IV
Lens: Canon 24-70 2.8L
ISO: 200
Exposure: f/11 at 1/250 second

Photo Editing Info:
In Adobe Lightroom I slightly increased the vibrance and saturation for the entire image. I then used the graduated neutral density feature to pull out some of the shadows detail in the foreground. I then cloned out a few dust spots that were visible in the blue sky above the storm.

What is Plus Extract?

It's your DAILY dose of TOP Google Plus photographs, which were chosen by an algorithm that combines automatic steps and manual curation. This means that the DAILY TOPs are NOT based solely on popularity, and users with a small number of followers have a chance to be featured in the TOP. We use Google+ API for the automatic steps; Jarek Klimek is responsible for curation and communication with the authors.

We strongly respect the authors and their rights. +Jarek Klimek contacts every photographer featured in all DAILY TOPs and if any author decides that he/she doesn't want to be featured in the TOP, we respect this absolutely.

Catherine Hall About us and Google+

Google+ has flourished into a bustling online community for photographers – and one reason is the exceptional contribution of early adopters such as Jarek Klimek, Editor of PhotoExtract magazine.

Jarek had the foresight to research the new social network and created an authoritative list of photographers to follow on Google+.

His viral list has not only become one of the top referring resources of photography trailblazers, it is also shared and watched by leaders such as Guy Kawasaki, Robert Scoble and Darren Rowse.

Jarek has helped introduce the work of great photographers to Google+ photography enthusiasts and I was very excited to share his insights with viewers on TWiT Photo.
