The famed night skies over Lake Tekapo's Church of the Good Shepherd definitely did not disappoint! This was a panorama of 14 verticals of 30 second exposures.

It is with tremendous patriotism that I post this image on Canada Day, while traveling abroad in Istanbul.

I love Canada and this image embodies that; red maple leaves on a bed of freshly fallen snow. The image was technically challenging to take, as the leaves needed to be preserved in order to have them bright red during the winter. Then I needed the perfect winter day with fresh snow, no wind, and sunshine. That day came on January 11, 2009.

If you love Canada, please share this image. I'd love for it inspire Canadians around the world to get out there and enjoy our great country or simply take great pictures while thinking of home. That is exactly what I have been doing today :)

This image is still my favourite in my portfolio. Happy Canada Day everyone!

Masquerade - Another shot form the Costa Brava, I found it quite strange that there is next to no tide in the mediterranean. The biggest change I could see from tide maps was a change of .1m but for the period I was there High and Low tide were the same :)

So if you find a composition all you need is the right weather, no need to consult tide maps as well :)

Cathedral Rock

After whingeing about wanting to go exploring last week https://plus.google.com/u/0/113921629183388099464/posts/1Eh8KBcn3vu
I jumped in the car and drove down to Kiama Downes (south of Sydney) for sunset.
There are some sea stacks there the biggest of which is called 'Cathedral Rock' (from an angle to the left of this it looks a bit more cathedral like) that I’ve been wanting to visit for over a year now and after checking the tides (low tide right on sunset) found out it would be perfect for walking around on the rocks.
I was hoping for some clouds but the sky stayed completely clear, I wasn’t complaining once the sun set though, beautiful strong purples started appearing and created some great graduations in the sky.
Really want to return to this location for sunrise with a stormy sky and do some longer exposures, I’ll be keeping an eye on the weather and tide forecasts for that one.

Turned out to be a fantastic Saturday afternoon, nothing better than exploring new places and taking photos.

Not sure if its minimal enough (is for me though :) ) but here’s my first colour entry for #minimalmonday curated by +Olivier Du Tré

Dune Shadows
Great Sand Dunes National Park, Colorado, USA

You'd never know it from looking at this image that these are the tallest dunes in North America. I was only there for one night, so for my sunrise shoot I was faced with a tough choice: Photograph the dunes from a short distance away and encompass the grand view of the dunes and mountains, or walk into the dunes and get a closer view. I opted for the closer view and while I didn't leave with any breathtaking images showing the grandeur of the 750 foot sand mountains, I did like the play of line, light and shadow in this more intimate view.

What is Plus Extract?

It's your DAILY dose of TOP Google Plus photographs, which were chosen by an algorithm that combines automatic steps and manual curation. This means that the DAILY TOPs are NOT based solely on popularity, and users with a small number of followers have a chance to be featured in the TOP. We use Google+ API for the automatic steps; Jarek Klimek is responsible for curation and communication with the authors.

We strongly respect the authors and their rights. +Jarek Klimek contacts every photographer featured in all DAILY TOPs and if any author decides that he/she doesn't want to be featured in the TOP, we respect this absolutely.

Catherine Hall About us and Google+

Google+ has flourished into a bustling online community for photographers – and one reason is the exceptional contribution of early adopters such as Jarek Klimek, Editor of PhotoExtract magazine.

Jarek had the foresight to research the new social network and created an authoritative list of photographers to follow on Google+.

His viral list has not only become one of the top referring resources of photography trailblazers, it is also shared and watched by leaders such as Guy Kawasaki, Robert Scoble and Darren Rowse.

Jarek has helped introduce the work of great photographers to Google+ photography enthusiasts and I was very excited to share his insights with viewers on TWiT Photo.
