In honor of the BIG #CincodeMayo Moon tonight, here's a picture I took of a little Moon almost 1 year ago.

I took the snap when the Space Shuttle Endeavor was docked to the International Space Station on her last mission. +Elyse David says the Moon is saying, "look at me!"

When I took the picture, at 12:28 GMT on May 19, 2011, I was one of twelve humans in space (6 Space Station crew members and 6 Space Shuttle crew members)

like a harp's strings II
“Always remember that I am a poet, not a philosopher. Remember always that I am (...) a musician playing on the harp of your heart.” - Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh -

(Katehaki Pedestrian Bridge, Athens – design by Santiago Calatrava)

If you all think I disappeared, well, it's not true. I'm just hiding. :)
I'm here and see everything, just don't have much time to comment and for that I apologize, especially that I've seen a lot of good work around lately.
But Berlin Photowalk is just around the corner (next weekend, on May 12&13) and to make this event happen we've been (and are) working a lot, all the organizers and we're very proud of it and hope (no, actually we know it) that it's going to be AWESOME!!!!
If you're interested to join us or just know more, please visit +GPlus Euro Photowalk. Everything is in there! And if you want to register, nothing easier than click here: http://goo.gl/lFFt7
And for those who are coming, can't wait to see you all in Berlin!!!

This image is another view of Calatrava's bridge (as it is known round here) that comes to sit next to my first shot of this bridge

in an attempt to show to the world a beautiful architectural object of Athens that, despite its great popularity, hasn't been photographed a lot. And I know of no long exposure that has been done of it (at least not existing online).
So, is this a first? Well, hopefully yes!!!

Hope you all enjoy my story about this bridge, I have a few more chapters to bring you soon.
Have a beautiful day!! :)

Wikingturm - Monument of architectural misplanning

The architect and building owners must have had a devil in them, when they planned this building in the historical city of Schleswig. The prime minister himself that days said that it is an economical great idea to place it where it is...and added that the esthetic still has to be proofed...40 years later, still missing the esthetic proof, for the residents of Schleswig (me included) it is still impossible to find peace with this monument. And I still don´t understand what the Viking Tower has to do with the Vikings...little to nothing :P

This is my first shot of an erupting volcano. And what an experience!! Think I'm becoming a volcano hunter! This is Stromboli, probably the easiest active volcano to photograph. It erupts every 20-30 mins. This is not the main eruption - stay tuned, that one is coming soon:) Have a great weekend.

As a rule, ants make for uncooperative photography subjects. But this rather mellow Rhytidoponera worker was happy to sit motionless in my whitebox for a few minutes, allowing me to line up shots at my leisure.

Ants in this genus are rather heavily armored, and the visible ridges and rugulations reinforce an already stiff exoskeleton. The surface sculpture gives these ants a bit of a battle advantage, as here:

J'ai été interpellé par le cheminement de ces rochers, presque submergés par la marée montante, jusqu'à l'arche. J'avais en tête une ambiance forte, en noir et blanc...

What is Plus Extract?

It's your DAILY dose of TOP Google Plus photographs, which were chosen by an algorithm that combines automatic steps and manual curation. This means that the DAILY TOPs are NOT based solely on popularity, and users with a small number of followers have a chance to be featured in the TOP. We use Google+ API for the automatic steps; Jarek Klimek is responsible for curation and communication with the authors.

We strongly respect the authors and their rights. +Jarek Klimek contacts every photographer featured in all DAILY TOPs and if any author decides that he/she doesn't want to be featured in the TOP, we respect this absolutely.

Catherine Hall About us and Google+

Google+ has flourished into a bustling online community for photographers – and one reason is the exceptional contribution of early adopters such as Jarek Klimek, Editor of PhotoExtract magazine.

Jarek had the foresight to research the new social network and created an authoritative list of photographers to follow on Google+.

His viral list has not only become one of the top referring resources of photography trailblazers, it is also shared and watched by leaders such as Guy Kawasaki, Robert Scoble and Darren Rowse.

Jarek has helped introduce the work of great photographers to Google+ photography enthusiasts and I was very excited to share his insights with viewers on TWiT Photo.
