Benacre Tree

Well i had planned to re-share this a week or so ago when I heard the news this much visited tree was no longer standing. I've been busy, so i hope this isn't too late after the event. +Iain Gilmour put a great gallery together on Flickr. Farewell fine tree much loved by photographers!

First Light Over Yellowstone

On the drive into Yellowstone our first morning in Wyoming, I asked my wife if I could pull over just before the entrance to Yellowstone to take a picture of what you see in this photo.

Although it appears the moon was quite full in this shot, it was actually crescent shaped yet it was doing a wonderful job of illuminating the nearby landscape.

Towards the bottom left of the shot you can see where the sun is just beginning to lighten up the sky. What I liked about this scene was that the purplish/pink tones that the rising sun was giving off, were bouncing off the clouds and then reflecting those hues towards the snow-covered ground below.

Looking from right to left you can faintly see the main road that you travel on once inside of Yellowstone's North Entrance. The famous Roosevelt Arch is towards the right, just slightly out of the composition.

This is a single RAW file which I processed with Lightroom 4 and Photoshop CS5.

Rhythms in the landscape

If its not weather, clouds (or minimal stuff) in the landscape that I'm attracted too, it is rhythms. Rhythms made by simple stuff. Grain bins, old shacks, or like in this case, old hay bales.

In all my excitement yesterday from the auroras I forgot to post my mountains for +Michael Russell's Mountainmonday theme. Sorry man. I will keep my mountains for next week...

What is Plus Extract?

It's your DAILY dose of TOP Google Plus photographs, which were chosen by an algorithm that combines automatic steps and manual curation. This means that the DAILY TOPs are NOT based solely on popularity, and users with a small number of followers have a chance to be featured in the TOP. We use Google+ API for the automatic steps; Jarek Klimek is responsible for curation and communication with the authors.

We strongly respect the authors and their rights. +Jarek Klimek contacts every photographer featured in all DAILY TOPs and if any author decides that he/she doesn't want to be featured in the TOP, we respect this absolutely.

Catherine Hall About us and Google+

Google+ has flourished into a bustling online community for photographers – and one reason is the exceptional contribution of early adopters such as Jarek Klimek, Editor of PhotoExtract magazine.

Jarek had the foresight to research the new social network and created an authoritative list of photographers to follow on Google+.

His viral list has not only become one of the top referring resources of photography trailblazers, it is also shared and watched by leaders such as Guy Kawasaki, Robert Scoble and Darren Rowse.

Jarek has helped introduce the work of great photographers to Google+ photography enthusiasts and I was very excited to share his insights with viewers on TWiT Photo.
