My cat doesn't really like it when he wakes up...

When we first saw him at the shelter in fact, we thought something was inherently wrong with him because of how woozy he was when he first woke up :D We didn't know that is just his thing!

We spent a lot of time looking at all the kittens and after a few minutes he perked right up and was the sprightliest of the whole bunch. He had quite a story.

He was abandoned. A lady found him mewling when he wasn't even able to open his eyes. She nursed him to health but he had issues. He had multiple! surgeries for hernias all before he was a mere 7 weeks old. But we knew he was for us. He was the most playful out of the whole lot, the most friendly.

The lady JUST put him up for adoption. She worked at the shelter and she was the one who found him -- who nursed him to health. She also fostered him until he was ready for adoption and we literally nabbed him within minutes of him being available. It was meant to be.

He is the sweetest cat I've ever known. He's loving, and lovey and cuddly and friendly. He isn't aloof at all. He plays fetch. He comes when called. He pesters his older step-brother cat but he also grooms him, too. He learns. He's quite smart actually and figures out what you want him to do.

We love him our Domo so much <3

On my first Masai Mara safari day I met big Notch and his family, there were 3 lionesses, 4 young ones and 2 babies. They had killed a hippo. Notch did not like it when others were eating with him. Only the Lionesses and babies were allowed to start eating with him. This cub was too close to Notches food and he was very angry and roared to the little one. But the little one roared back loudly. He was not afraid and not subservient.

Come Climb With Me (view large)
From my blog: http://www.niophoto.com/come-climb-with-me/

A few weeks ago I posted an image with an aerial view of the Mont Blanc massif (see the post: Come fly with me). I went back to the same area at the end of February, together with +Athena Carey to grab a few additional shots whilst it was still Winter. Here is one of the images I shot that day. This time we are looking up from the valley. I really loved how the light was hitting the mountains. I shot it at 140mm to close in on a specific section in between the mountains to add a bit of depth to the image.

Dedicating this one to my Swiss friends +Wilfried Haferland and +Daniel Arndt, who actually dare to climb up these alpine "walls"!!!

The Strength of Love

Mainly I didn't want to just have pics of my face on my profile so I thought I'd add in another pic real fast ;) ... To feign humility and what not ;)

Here's a green turtle (Chelonia mydas) from Cousin's Rock in the Galapagos Islands. There are seahorses in the black coral (which is yellow, in this picture), and sea lions often dive bomb divers from above.

I used to spend a lot of time in the Galapagos—a place I love. Sadly, arbitrary diving regulation has nearly doubled the price of a SCUBA diving trip there in recent years, and options are much more limited than they were 5 years ago. Still, it's a magical place, and if you have the resources to do a week-long liveaboard trip, it's well worth it!

I took a photo of this subway entrance last summer in New York, and have since been trying to figure out a way to use it in one of my montages. Finally last week I had an idea and went for this less is more approach, which kind of focuses on what you don’t see in the picture.

Vestvågøy, Lofoten, Norway

This one was shot back in 2010 in the Lofoten islands, Norway and I felt it looked so much like a model-lake and house, that I processed it like a tilt'n'shift to further enhance that look.

What is Plus Extract?

It's your DAILY dose of TOP Google Plus photographs, which were chosen by an algorithm that combines automatic steps and manual curation. This means that the DAILY TOPs are NOT based solely on popularity, and users with a small number of followers have a chance to be featured in the TOP. We use Google+ API for the automatic steps; Jarek Klimek is responsible for curation and communication with the authors.

We strongly respect the authors and their rights. +Jarek Klimek contacts every photographer featured in all DAILY TOPs and if any author decides that he/she doesn't want to be featured in the TOP, we respect this absolutely.

Catherine Hall About us and Google+

Google+ has flourished into a bustling online community for photographers – and one reason is the exceptional contribution of early adopters such as Jarek Klimek, Editor of PhotoExtract magazine.

Jarek had the foresight to research the new social network and created an authoritative list of photographers to follow on Google+.

His viral list has not only become one of the top referring resources of photography trailblazers, it is also shared and watched by leaders such as Guy Kawasaki, Robert Scoble and Darren Rowse.

Jarek has helped introduce the work of great photographers to Google+ photography enthusiasts and I was very excited to share his insights with viewers on TWiT Photo.
