Good morning!

For today's #wildlifewednesday curated by +Mike Spinak, I'd like to share a new image of a red fox I captured along the Maligne Lake Road in Jasper National Park, Alberta. This little guy, like nearly all other red foxes I've seen, did not appear to be bothered by my presence at all.

This was shot on a 7D with my 70-200 2.8 IS II + 1.4 extender at ISO 400.

Also - Please check out my latest timelapse HD video, "Surreal Journey" here: http://vimeo.com/37070013

Have a wonderful day!

Pacing Jaguar

There's no way to describe the big cats of the wild. They are beautiful and powerful. While he may not be king of the jungle, the jaguar is still a majestic creature.

I usually don't like to shoot at this time of the day when the light is very harsh, hence the use of HDR as well as a very long exposure for the water (I stacked ND400+ND8, total 12-stops). And B&W conversion to make it visually more appealing.

Technical stuff: 7 exposures tone-mapped HDR with Oloneo Photo Engine, water replaced with a single exposure shot with ND400+ND8 stacked (f/22, 4 minutes), final composite image converted to B&W with Nik SilverEfex Pro.

Bowling for Bison

Here's one of my favorite shots from my visit to Yellowstone last week. This photo was taken during a 10-hour snowmobile tour throughout the park.

Although it appears I was dangerously close when taking this photo, I was actually a very safe distance away. This is a tight crop from my 22 mega-pixel camera.

This was a single RAW file which I processed inside of Photoshop with Topaz Adjust, Dfine Pro, and PhotoTools. Final crop and some other slight adjustments were done inside of Lightroom 4 (Beta).

You would never guess this was Iceland. While doing some exploring, we stream hiked through a small gorge, crossing several times and climbing up a smaller falls to find this intimate falls at the end. I shot with my back against the gorge wall to get it all in.

Paddy, Grandfather of 19

And great grandfather to 6 with more to come, I came across Paddy on a stall in a market in Liverpool, I had originally walked by but had to do a double take because he reminded me of Terry Pratchet, the way he looked at you over his glasses made the image all the more for me.

As the title says, he has 19 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren with more on the way, he is still only 69 years of age. He was in the army in Africa, still a colonial soldier in the 60's as he put it and where he got his name, he was originally called Pat but is a feminine name in other countries so they gave him the name paddy and it stuck.

Great character.

What is Plus Extract?

It's your DAILY dose of TOP Google Plus photographs, which were chosen by an algorithm that combines automatic steps and manual curation. This means that the DAILY TOPs are NOT based solely on popularity, and users with a small number of followers have a chance to be featured in the TOP. We use Google+ API for the automatic steps; Jarek Klimek is responsible for curation and communication with the authors.

We strongly respect the authors and their rights. +Jarek Klimek contacts every photographer featured in all DAILY TOPs and if any author decides that he/she doesn't want to be featured in the TOP, we respect this absolutely.

Catherine Hall About us and Google+

Google+ has flourished into a bustling online community for photographers – and one reason is the exceptional contribution of early adopters such as Jarek Klimek, Editor of PhotoExtract magazine.

Jarek had the foresight to research the new social network and created an authoritative list of photographers to follow on Google+.

His viral list has not only become one of the top referring resources of photography trailblazers, it is also shared and watched by leaders such as Guy Kawasaki, Robert Scoble and Darren Rowse.

Jarek has helped introduce the work of great photographers to Google+ photography enthusiasts and I was very excited to share his insights with viewers on TWiT Photo.
