Do you wonder what the TOP photos published by Google+ photography enthusiasts on February 17 were?

Pain in the neck
That's how I am know to some of my friends.
That's also what I get when making some of my images. Sometimes, you gotta do you what you gotta do to make the image. Often that involves contortion, awkwardness and ridiculous positioning...but hey, that's what you gotta do...

My last portfolio reshare

... before I add more photos.

Sorry for being so silent lately. Some things kept me busy and I didn't have time to process or shoot photos. Anyway, I'm flying to Lanzarote and Fuerteventura of Canary Islands on Sunday and hoping to bring something worth posting.

BTW, any tips from whoever have been there? Places to see, locations for nice photos (not only wildlife), some good restaurants? I would be much obliged.

A recent lightning storm directly out in front of the Quindalup Boat Ramp/Jetty in Dunsborough, Western Australia. It was great to get away from Perth and head Down South.

Silver Streak, Grand Tetons National Park, WY
#PhotographyWorkflow, #howtophotograph

There must have been about a dozen photographer behind me shooting the reflections of the Grand Tetons behind me that morning, but I was drawn to the backlit mist just as the sun was coming up. The cloudless sky over the Tetons was rather uninteresting.

How was this photograph created?
As my skills were rather limited at the time, I went to great lengths to avoid the bright sky on my right. The photos is intentionally left dark to make the mist stand out. This was also one of my first attempt at manual blending...I spend hours trying to figure out how bring out the details in different parts of the image (back in 2005 HDR was not quite as popular).

At the time I was not convinced going through blending multiple images was was worth the effort. :-)))

Enjoy & Share.

The Waning Moon

In the early hours of day
the moon looks on with tender heart
and cries a tear for it knew
as lamplight in the dark.

But as her tear falls to the earth
A light grows stronger in the east
And flames the blood of something new
By golden light of day.

The shadows of night flee from view
And hide behind the sundrenched trees
Upon the zenith they are gone
Then creep back to the night.

Then moon again will hold the guard
Until she cannot stand the view
Then even she to shadows goes
Before her light renews.

What is Plus Extract?

It's your DAILY dose of TOP Google Plus photographs, which were chosen by an algorithm that combines automatic steps and manual curation. This means that the DAILY TOPs are NOT based solely on popularity, and users with a small number of followers have a chance to be featured in the TOP. We use Google+ API for the automatic steps; Jarek Klimek is responsible for curation and communication with the authors.

We strongly respect the authors and their rights. +Jarek Klimek contacts every photographer featured in all DAILY TOPs and if any author decides that he/she doesn't want to be featured in the TOP, we respect this absolutely.

Catherine Hall About us and Google+

Google+ has flourished into a bustling online community for photographers – and one reason is the exceptional contribution of early adopters such as Jarek Klimek, Editor of PhotoExtract magazine.

Jarek had the foresight to research the new social network and created an authoritative list of photographers to follow on Google+.

His viral list has not only become one of the top referring resources of photography trailblazers, it is also shared and watched by leaders such as Guy Kawasaki, Robert Scoble and Darren Rowse.

Jarek has helped introduce the work of great photographers to Google+ photography enthusiasts and I was very excited to share his insights with viewers on TWiT Photo.
