I shot this custom biplane from a Piper Cherokee with the rear door removed. It was a great weekend of photography and aerobatics in Coushatta, Louisiana!

Pondering Something in Tsukishima

Another shot from Saturday's outing with +Shinyong Lee into Tsukishima, Tokyo. +Edwin Zapata had finished his shots with our lovely model and I shot a few quick ones for myself, using the Loreo Lens in a Cap; a great little variable-aperture pinhole for DSLR.

Shinyong and I were out for a few hours of shooting with Edwin, who has had a few lessons and workshops with me since he has been in Japan. Edwin goes back to Panama very soon.

We did some work with lights and then just freestyled a bunch of shots in the streets of this charming part of town.

The outing wasn't about me shooting but I can never completely resist, so I snatched a few of my own as I was keen to try the pinhole on something other than landscapes and urban scenes.... and it works so well for fashion, especially when you mess with the fact that it is so easy to make this lens flare in direct sunshine.

All the flare effect occurred in-camera.

Kinderdijk, Netherlands

Everywhere I look these days in Holland the landscape has been transformed into a winter wonderland. There's not much snow, but two weeks freezing temperatures has rendered all the canals frozen and there are skaters everywhere.

Half way in to February and we finally got some snow fall. Up until the past few days, we've been fortunate enough to spend most of the Winter so far in temperatures around 50 degrees. As soon as I woke up and noticed the snow, I grabbed my camera and headed out. I had an idea of where I was headed, but not a specific location. I saw this while driving and looking for something completely different which just serves as a reminder to always keep your eyes and mind open.

A Minimal Bird
Other than street portraits, the other art form that has caught my attention after I joined G+ is the work of minimalist photographers. Here is my 1st post for the theme #minimalmonday curated by +Olivier Du Tré. May or may not be appropriate, but I am trying to get the hang of things here :-)

I just arrived in Venice after a whirlwind tour through London, Paris & Istanbul in 6 days. With only one day to capture a city I was under some serious pressure. It didn't help that Europe is in a deep freeze! 8 hours in -6C temperatures is a challenge.

I have 4 nights in Italy, so hopefully I'll have a few hours downtime to catch up my Google+ friends on my journey!

Hope everyone is still shooting and sharing their photos often :)

What is Plus Extract?

It's your DAILY dose of TOP Google Plus photographs, which were chosen by an algorithm that combines automatic steps and manual curation. This means that the DAILY TOPs are NOT based solely on popularity, and users with a small number of followers have a chance to be featured in the TOP. We use Google+ API for the automatic steps; Jarek Klimek is responsible for curation and communication with the authors.

We strongly respect the authors and their rights. +Jarek Klimek contacts every photographer featured in all DAILY TOPs and if any author decides that he/she doesn't want to be featured in the TOP, we respect this absolutely.

Catherine Hall About us and Google+

Google+ has flourished into a bustling online community for photographers – and one reason is the exceptional contribution of early adopters such as Jarek Klimek, Editor of PhotoExtract magazine.

Jarek had the foresight to research the new social network and created an authoritative list of photographers to follow on Google+.

His viral list has not only become one of the top referring resources of photography trailblazers, it is also shared and watched by leaders such as Guy Kawasaki, Robert Scoble and Darren Rowse.

Jarek has helped introduce the work of great photographers to Google+ photography enthusiasts and I was very excited to share his insights with viewers on TWiT Photo.
