Second try: I originally had this photo re-sized by by G+ in a way that completely ruined the detail in the image. Sorry, everyone who had already added a +1, commented, or shared.

With just about twenty-five minutes at this location before I had to hurry back to the house (details below), the timing couldn't have been more perfect! It was also fortunate that I was able to find some freshly formed (not marked by tracks) ice between these bergs. Have a great weekend!

This is how the morning went: I woke up to my alarm at six, but went back to sleep. I woke up again just before seven and read a "parenting devotion" and a chapter of Proverbs before pulling open the blinds and looking outside. There was no color yet, but I could see the slightest promise in the sky, so I threw on some warm gear and headed for the door. Around seven fifteen, I told my wife I'd be home by eight, when she was supposed to be meeting a friend, but she said she needed fifteen minutes to run there. I said I'd be back by seven forty-five (official sunrise time) and walked out the door. There still wasn't much going on with the light when I parked the car by the lake. I told myself I was just scouting the condition of the lake ice, but there was a hint of color building. At about seven forty, I recorded the exposures I blended for this image, and started packing up, enjoying the rest of a sweet sunrise on my way back to the car. I pulled back into my driveway a few seconds after seven fifty..."Sorry I'm late."...a little bit sorry.

Yosemite Tree No 1

I have obsessions with trees, especially in the winter when they're stripped of leafs and stand all on their own.

There was no snow on my most recent trip to Yosemite when +Stefan Bäurle and I drove to spend a day there for G+ photowalk on New Years Day. So I focused on trees and water. I hope to build a set over time. When everything big has been photographer at the park millions of times, small nature portaits is what still keeps me going there.

And of course, Yosemite itself.

Ice-bound river is not a common sight in place where I live. It would be foolish not to take a chance and take this photo. Was taken at dusk, but it would still candidate for #sunsetsaturday by +TJ Kelly . What do you think?

What is Plus Extract?

It's your DAILY dose of TOP Google Plus photographs, which were chosen by an algorithm that combines automatic steps and manual curation. This means that the DAILY TOPs are NOT based solely on popularity, and users with a small number of followers have a chance to be featured in the TOP. We use Google+ API for the automatic steps; Jarek Klimek is responsible for curation and communication with the authors.

We strongly respect the authors and their rights. +Jarek Klimek contacts every photographer featured in all DAILY TOPs and if any author decides that he/she doesn't want to be featured in the TOP, we respect this absolutely.

Catherine Hall About us and Google+

Google+ has flourished into a bustling online community for photographers – and one reason is the exceptional contribution of early adopters such as Jarek Klimek, Editor of PhotoExtract magazine.

Jarek had the foresight to research the new social network and created an authoritative list of photographers to follow on Google+.

His viral list has not only become one of the top referring resources of photography trailblazers, it is also shared and watched by leaders such as Guy Kawasaki, Robert Scoble and Darren Rowse.

Jarek has helped introduce the work of great photographers to Google+ photography enthusiasts and I was very excited to share his insights with viewers on TWiT Photo.
