The Weatherman Was Right
Tonight's sunset.
My favorite weatherman +Barry Blanchard told me clouds were on the way... guess he was right!
I know you'll ask so...
Yes it's real.
Yes I took this photo myself.
Yes it's HDR.
And dang I love nature.

Hi G+ friends, an old picture (many of you may have already seen it) with a new editing here. Very glad that it has recently been published on 1x.com! :-)

The opportunity to thank the Google+ team for adding one of my picture on the front page of Picasa Web Albums!!! This is such a beautiful and totally unexpected gift, I have no idea how that happened and I'm not sure to deserve it. Anyway, many many many thanks to them!!! :-))

Despite my dedication to mono, we are entering possibly the most colourful time of year.  In readiness I have been thinking about certain locations and going back over thousands of archive images.  In doing so I've rediscovered some images which I had long forgotten about, but also images that are genuinely beautiful to my eye, but ones which only really work in colour.  In my view, they're too good for the bin and deserve to be shown somewhere.  Looks like my fight with colour might re-emerge after all.  I am going to experimenting with some different crops too though, while I like the look of other people's squares, the 1:1 format has never really worked for my images, but I'm learning.  This one seems to work here anyway.

This image was taken in November 2010 with my D700 and 24mm f/3.5 PC-E.  It's a reminder what a great camera it was (and still is) alongside all of todays offerings - there is no colour manipulation here, just a small amount of sharpening and a great polariser.

Kangchenjunga
Mt. Kangchenjunga is the third highest mountain in the world, with an elevation of 8,586 m (28,169 ft) and located along the India-Nepal border in the Himalayas. The Kangchenjunga massif represents "The Five Treasures of Snows", as it contains five peaks, four of them over 8,450 m (27,720 ft). The treasures represent the five repositories of God, which are gold, silver, gems, grain, and holy books. (from Wiki)
Sikkim, India.
This image has been shared before and has been re-edited.
Note: I will be posting images with "Comments disabled" during October. Look forward to your Plus 1's though :). Thanks!

Back to my Roots, and they are on fire!

Today I left the garden and headed for Mt. Rainier to see the fall color.  There really wasn't any, at least where I was near Tipsoo Lake.  I haven't done many landscapes lately and it was getting really depressing :)).

This is one I took on the way home from Tipsoo Lake.  With little light left, I was able to catch the wild fires in the Cascades.  I think this is a new one - there was a red glow that was visible at points where it was impossible to get a shot off!

Enjoy and good night!

What is Plus Extract?

It's your DAILY dose of TOP Google Plus photographs, which were chosen by an algorithm that combines automatic steps and manual curation. This means that the DAILY TOPs are NOT based solely on popularity, and users with a small number of followers have a chance to be featured in the TOP. We use Google+ API for the automatic steps; Jarek Klimek is responsible for curation and communication with the authors.

We strongly respect the authors and their rights. +Jarek Klimek contacts every photographer featured in all DAILY TOPs and if any author decides that he/she doesn't want to be featured in the TOP, we respect this absolutely.

Catherine Hall About us and Google+

Google+ has flourished into a bustling online community for photographers – and one reason is the exceptional contribution of early adopters such as Jarek Klimek, Editor of PhotoExtract magazine.

Jarek had the foresight to research the new social network and created an authoritative list of photographers to follow on Google+.

His viral list has not only become one of the top referring resources of photography trailblazers, it is also shared and watched by leaders such as Guy Kawasaki, Robert Scoble and Darren Rowse.

Jarek has helped introduce the work of great photographers to Google+ photography enthusiasts and I was very excited to share his insights with viewers on TWiT Photo.
