A rework of an award winning published image of mine, and still a personal favourite.  This was shot almost two years ago to the day with my Nikon 45mm Tilt Shift Lens.  If you'd like to learn more about Tilt Shift and other techniques I'm going to be running a series of workshops very soon - let me know if you'd be interested in learning techniques to create images like this...

Speed
Went today to Rotterdam to join photo walk organized by +Joel Tjintjelaar & +Johan Peijnenburg. We know eachother through g+ but to meet is a new dimension, fine people to walk with!
Besides these two biggies were still more fine people who have walked with, G+ connects people.
I know one thing photographing architecture is just as fun as street photography as I've done both ;-)
This is my first share from that walk..... architecture have to wait ;-)

Good Afternoon,

Not been out much of late so I thought I'd pop over to my local lighthouse for sunset last night. Outgoing tide left this puddle, which cast some nice reflections from the cloud and lighthouse. I used the 10 stop filter to get the smeared cloud.

impressions of earth

My first shot of a new series of images, taken during my recent trip to Iceland. The project turned out to be very intense, but in a positive way, which I think helped me to make some important steps towards the kind of photography I like to pursue and the kind of images I like to create, in order to express 'me'.

For this shot in particular I completed several attempts before a 10min exposure finally did the trick. The weather was typical for Iceland, bad for long exposures though: Strong winds, high waves and frequent rain showers, but also short rays of sun. My standard drill during the exposures was me cowering behind my tripod, trying to keep it stable while assessing how much rain my camera still can take and when to jump in front of my camera to quickly wipe the lens to get rid of raindrops. I think I had to clean the lens up to five times during this exposure. But now I know that when you have roughly 2 min of exposure left, you still have a few really quick seconds to clean your lens without resulting in ghosting :-). Also I know now too, that one should fix every single piece of gear when the wind is that strong, otherwise you might have to watch your tripod bag drown in the ocean…

Anyway, I like the feel of this image and I hope you do too.

What is Plus Extract?

It's your DAILY dose of TOP Google Plus photographs, which were chosen by an algorithm that combines automatic steps and manual curation. This means that the DAILY TOPs are NOT based solely on popularity, and users with a small number of followers have a chance to be featured in the TOP. We use Google+ API for the automatic steps; Jarek Klimek is responsible for curation and communication with the authors.

We strongly respect the authors and their rights. +Jarek Klimek contacts every photographer featured in all DAILY TOPs and if any author decides that he/she doesn't want to be featured in the TOP, we respect this absolutely.

Catherine Hall About us and Google+

Google+ has flourished into a bustling online community for photographers – and one reason is the exceptional contribution of early adopters such as Jarek Klimek, Editor of PhotoExtract magazine.

Jarek had the foresight to research the new social network and created an authoritative list of photographers to follow on Google+.

His viral list has not only become one of the top referring resources of photography trailblazers, it is also shared and watched by leaders such as Guy Kawasaki, Robert Scoble and Darren Rowse.

Jarek has helped introduce the work of great photographers to Google+ photography enthusiasts and I was very excited to share his insights with viewers on TWiT Photo.
