Bad Break

+Syracuse Crunch Hockey Club forward Cory Conacher's (89) stick breaks resulting in a weak shot against the Hershey Bears goalie Braden Holtby (1) in the Crunch's #AHL 2012-2013 Home Opener in the War Memorial on Saturday, October 13. Crunch won 4-3.

Here's one from the archives, shot a few months ago in Cornwall (probably the best place to be if you're into seascapes and long exposures). This is Gull Rock, just a little off the coast of Portreath on the north Cornwall coast. This is one of a multitude of images that I've been sitting on for months, trying to figure out how best to treat it. Went in a new direction on this one, not quite sure yet if it's working here. Let me know what you think.

I haven't had much time for photography lately unfortunately. So many things are changing for me with my impending move back to Malaysia. We leave in just under 2 weeks now and packing is in full force. It's amazing how much "junk" you can accumulate without even realizing it! Despite all the stresses and strains, it's a very exciting time right now and I'm grateful for that.

This will probably be my last post for a long while. We are first heading off to California for an extended break, en route to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. All my computer gear is going by sea which means I probably won't "sea" them until at least mid-January (groan, did I really just say that?). Bad puns aside, I will still try to catch up on all of your work every now and then and I hope to see all of you Gplussers again when I return!

So, until then, happy shooting and take care everyone!

Kelly in the Meadow

More from the photoshoot of the fantastic Kelly in Marian Bear Preserve last weekend, along with +Shuwen Lisa Wu  and +Alexander S. Kunz.  So much fun!

Marian Bear Preserve was the first place that I hiked (well more like strolled around; hiking is quite an overstatement for this modest, but pleasant place) after moving to San DIego two years ago (because it was quite close to where I was living then).  It was my first exposure up close to the oak and sycamore groves that line the canyon bottoms.  I noted that day that this would be a terrific place to work with models, teens, or couples, but never actually had that opportunity until last weekend.  I'm so glad that I finally did!

Reflector for fill, driven by the skillful +Alexander S. Kunz.  :)

What is Plus Extract?

It's your DAILY dose of TOP Google Plus photographs, which were chosen by an algorithm that combines automatic steps and manual curation. This means that the DAILY TOPs are NOT based solely on popularity, and users with a small number of followers have a chance to be featured in the TOP. We use Google+ API for the automatic steps; Jarek Klimek is responsible for curation and communication with the authors.

We strongly respect the authors and their rights. +Jarek Klimek contacts every photographer featured in all DAILY TOPs and if any author decides that he/she doesn't want to be featured in the TOP, we respect this absolutely.

Catherine Hall About us and Google+

Google+ has flourished into a bustling online community for photographers – and one reason is the exceptional contribution of early adopters such as Jarek Klimek, Editor of PhotoExtract magazine.

Jarek had the foresight to research the new social network and created an authoritative list of photographers to follow on Google+.

His viral list has not only become one of the top referring resources of photography trailblazers, it is also shared and watched by leaders such as Guy Kawasaki, Robert Scoble and Darren Rowse.

Jarek has helped introduce the work of great photographers to Google+ photography enthusiasts and I was very excited to share his insights with viewers on TWiT Photo.
