A hip shot taken in the train. That's why I love my GX1 or my left eye. Maybe it's also just street photography what makes me happy...

Had a bit of an interesting sky this afternoon. Windy as all heck and It was trying to get things a little too warm too soon. Didn't feel like flying my kite so I did this instead.

"Winter Silence"

I am always drawn to contrasts and the best contrast is black vs white. Winter snow always sets this contrast up in dramatic fashion. In this case, it is the starkness of the white snow and the loneliness of the trees which creates the contrast in this image.

In another photo, I stated that some of these moments are fleeting and you can never capture them again. Well, this photo cannot be repeated exactly the same because one of the trees was struck by lighting and is no longer there.

Like many of my photos, they stay hidden on hard drives or on other websites, but I saw a photo posted by +Athena Carey and it sparked my interest. So, I decided to go looking through my images for this one.

"You walked with me
Footprints in the sand
And helped me understand
Where I'm going
You walked with me
When I was all alone
With so much unknown
Along the way
Then I heard you say
I promise you
I'm always there
When your heart is filled with sorrow
And despair
I'll carry you
When you need a friend
You'll find my footprints in the sand
I see my life
Flash across the sky
So many times have I
Been so afraid
And just when I
Have thought I'd lost my way
You gave me strength to carry on
Thats when I heard you say
I promise you
I'm always there
When your heart is filled with sorrow
And despair
I'll carry you
When you need a friend
You'll find my footprints in the sand
When I'm weary
Well, I know you've been there
And I can feel you when you say
I promise you
I'm always there
When your heart is filled with sadness (when your heart)
And despair (and despair)
I'll carry you
When you need a friend
You'll find my footprints in the sand
(I promise you)
(I'm always there)
When your heart is full of sadness
And despair
I'll carry you
When you need a friend
You'll find my footprints in the sand "

When shooting portraits of teenagers, it's best to have as much or more attitude as the person you're shooting. And when shooting anyone over the age of 11, don't mention Justin Bieber unless you want to get your subject to stop smiling and start glaring. Also, don't ask them who they'd rather be: a Smurf or a Chipmunk. Just sayin'.

What is Plus Extract?

It's your DAILY dose of TOP Google Plus photographs, which were chosen by an algorithm that combines automatic steps and manual curation. This means that the DAILY TOPs are NOT based solely on popularity, and users with a small number of followers have a chance to be featured in the TOP. We use Google+ API for the automatic steps; Jarek Klimek is responsible for curation and communication with the authors.

We strongly respect the authors and their rights. +Jarek Klimek contacts every photographer featured in all DAILY TOPs and if any author decides that he/she doesn't want to be featured in the TOP, we respect this absolutely.

Catherine Hall About us and Google+

Google+ has flourished into a bustling online community for photographers – and one reason is the exceptional contribution of early adopters such as Jarek Klimek, Editor of PhotoExtract magazine.

Jarek had the foresight to research the new social network and created an authoritative list of photographers to follow on Google+.

His viral list has not only become one of the top referring resources of photography trailblazers, it is also shared and watched by leaders such as Guy Kawasaki, Robert Scoble and Darren Rowse.

Jarek has helped introduce the work of great photographers to Google+ photography enthusiasts and I was very excited to share his insights with viewers on TWiT Photo.
