Day 21. This is my local park, Nurragingy Reserve, just a 10min walk from home or a 2min drive. I chose to drive as it closes at 7pm during Summer and this was taken at 6.44pm. Why do I put so much pressure on myself for these shots. :( It actually was not the shot I was hunting for. If you look in the top left corner you see a gazebo and under it is usually a water fall feature however they must have turned it off before I got there. I wanted to capture it with a slow shutter speed to blur the water movement so I had to resort to Plan B.

Meteora, Greece

Meteora must rank, for me, as one of the most awe-inspiring places I've been to, and I've been to quite a few. Not only is the landscape of sandstone pillars breathtaking, but atop many of these pillars are perched ancient monasteries that are still thriving. Get there at sunset or sunrise and you have the makings of some great photos. Here we see the 16th century Monastery of St. Barbara, just after the sun went down. You can visit the monasteries. Some are easily accessible. Others require climbing hundreds of steps. All are beautifully decorated inside and offer exceptional views of an exceptional landscape.

Had to get up extra early to get here before first light. This is Sandy Point Lighthouse, which stands in the middle of the Chesapeake Bay just a few miles south of Baltimore, MD. The sky was nothing remarkable for a sunrise, but the surroundings worked out well.

Plus One Collection 2011

as time goes by

This is my contribution to the great project #PlusOneCollection, organized by +Ivan Makarov.

What started like a last moment thought (to go to this place where I had been just once more in my life), and continued with me driving like a madman to catch the late light, cursing myself in the meantime why I didn't thought about it earlier, thankfully ended with one of my favourite photos for 2011. Not too bad for a late starter...

Shot at Salamina island, near Athens, Greece, at the entrance of the straights of Salamina, the place where the historical Salamis Battle took place in 480BC between the Greeks and the Persian Empire: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Salamis

Now that my extended migraine has gone, I'm finally back to working on new images. Here's a new beauty shot for your weekend stream. =)

'On the Fringe'
Edisto Island, South Carolina

#coastal #plusphotoextract #sunrisesaturday #sunrise #beach

A lone desolate tree stands on the fringe of high tide during sunrise in coastal South Carolina. This tree is being devastated by beach erosion and will soon fall victim to the water and be reclaimed by the sea.

This image will be the subject of my next 'Unsensored' entry on the blog so stay tuned for the full story behind the image as well as how I created it.

And now for something different

I stood in awe as the Dark Lord rose up and cheered excitedly for the three bees as they held hands in the sky
I felt safe and secure at the arrival of the Wells Fargo chariot, secure from a scary blue shark.
A bottle of Beer tipped me over while the flying cow jumped over the moon.
Smokey the bear reminded me that forest fires are dangerous while a terrifying wasp scouted around for its next victim.
A haunted house appeared from nowhere while a fluttering butterfly set out in the skies...

These were but the many sights of the annual balloon festival in Albuquerque, a wonderous and creative respite from the monotonity of daily life.

This particular scene is that of the Dark Lord balloon catching the morning sun and rising up from behind a set of balloons getting inflated. Shot with a telephoto lens at F9, ISO 800 and 1/200s. A polarizer saturated the colors and gave a nice sky

The Transporter (HDR) ( photo: bit.ly/fp-transporter )

Since the last image I posted was a wormhole, I thought a transporter may be a nice add-on. ;-) Actually, I shot both of these photos onboard a cruise ship.

I am excited to announce that my latest HDR community project will be launched on Monday at farbspiel-photo.com. Much like the HDR@G+ list, it is going to bring the HDR photography world a bit closer together, providing a free service that many people should find useful. And the best part of it is that you can be a part of it.

Stay tuned for more details! I am counting on you, because I need your help for this.

What is Plus Extract?

It's your DAILY dose of TOP Google Plus photographs, which were chosen by an algorithm that combines automatic steps and manual curation. This means that the DAILY TOPs are NOT based solely on popularity, and users with a small number of followers have a chance to be featured in the TOP. We use Google+ API for the automatic steps; Jarek Klimek is responsible for curation and communication with the authors.

We strongly respect the authors and their rights. +Jarek Klimek contacts every photographer featured in all DAILY TOPs and if any author decides that he/she doesn't want to be featured in the TOP, we respect this absolutely.

Catherine Hall About us and Google+

Google+ has flourished into a bustling online community for photographers – and one reason is the exceptional contribution of early adopters such as Jarek Klimek, Editor of PhotoExtract magazine.

Jarek had the foresight to research the new social network and created an authoritative list of photographers to follow on Google+.

His viral list has not only become one of the top referring resources of photography trailblazers, it is also shared and watched by leaders such as Guy Kawasaki, Robert Scoble and Darren Rowse.

Jarek has helped introduce the work of great photographers to Google+ photography enthusiasts and I was very excited to share his insights with viewers on TWiT Photo.
