Red House On the (Not So) Raging River... Soda Springs, CA

Last July 4, while 62' of snow was melting from our Sierras this spot looked something like this: http://goo.gl/IqSId. Just a couple months later the same spot was positively picnic-lunchable! I love before/after shots, don't you?

Scituate Lighthouse - Cedar Point, Scituate, Massachusetts - Built in 1811
Seascape Photography is an addiction and with a 24% chance of cloud cover we never thought twice about the single digit temperatures and bitting windchill (well maybe a little). This morning myself and my good friend +Frank C. Grace headed out for yet another cold weather adventure to the Scituate Light. A lighthouse that has been well captured by other local photographers but I have never been there with the low light I generally like to shoot.

ISO 100, 80 Seconds, f/5.6 with a 3 stop ND Grad

As I was walking out on the pier I noticed this surfer enjoying the end of what was perhaps a great day on the water. Was she thinking about the waves that she caught or what might be? I thought I would take the time to walk back down the pier then out onto the beach to see if she might possibly still be there. I don't think she moved from this spot on her board for at least 15 minutes that I was there.

There was a cruise ship off in the distance yet she seemed to be just in deep thought gazing into the ocean.....

It made me want to go up and ask her what she was thinking about as she was staring off in the distance, yet I didn't want to interrupt her thoughts....

What is Plus Extract?

It's your DAILY dose of TOP Google Plus photographs, which were chosen by an algorithm that combines automatic steps and manual curation. This means that the DAILY TOPs are NOT based solely on popularity, and users with a small number of followers have a chance to be featured in the TOP. We use Google+ API for the automatic steps; Jarek Klimek is responsible for curation and communication with the authors.

We strongly respect the authors and their rights. +Jarek Klimek contacts every photographer featured in all DAILY TOPs and if any author decides that he/she doesn't want to be featured in the TOP, we respect this absolutely.

Catherine Hall About us and Google+

Google+ has flourished into a bustling online community for photographers – and one reason is the exceptional contribution of early adopters such as Jarek Klimek, Editor of PhotoExtract magazine.

Jarek had the foresight to research the new social network and created an authoritative list of photographers to follow on Google+.

His viral list has not only become one of the top referring resources of photography trailblazers, it is also shared and watched by leaders such as Guy Kawasaki, Robert Scoble and Darren Rowse.

Jarek has helped introduce the work of great photographers to Google+ photography enthusiasts and I was very excited to share his insights with viewers on TWiT Photo.
