"Binti" the eldest daughter of Leopard Olive, Masai Mara, Kenya

The youngest daughter of Olive I've already shown you. This beauty is Olive's eldest daughter. I saw her the first time when she was 2 months old. When I took this photo in 2010, she was 3 years old. I saw her in the morning and I searched Binti at afternoon in the same area again. We drove obout one again and again around the bushes, we found her not. Then we decided to leave the area. As she sat on this termite mound and looked at us as if to say, "what have you done for so long in the bushes, but there is nothing to see!" :)
Six months later I was back there and was looking everywhere, but even after three weeks I have not found Binti. She has captured my heart immediately, and I hope I'll find she again one day. I would recognize she immediately!

I spent a wonderful day yesterday photographing Snowy Owls. The Snowy Owl is one of the largest species of owl and in North America is one of the heaviest of the owl species. Young owls, especially males, get whiter as they get older. Females are darker than males, with dusky spotting, and never become totally white. Some elderly males do become completely white, though many retain small flecks of dusky plumage. These magnificent owls sometimes remain year-round in their northern breeding grounds, but they are frequent migrants to Canada, the northern United States, Europe, and Asia. Lemming availability may determine the extent of southern migration, when owls take up summer or even winter residence on open fields, marshes, and beaches.

The first rain in Tokyo this year. The clouds looked dramatic but they were moving so fast. I didn't want to miss the chance so I shot them with my iPhone. Edited with Snapseed.

Moonset at Sunrise

This morning sunrise was spectacular. So spectacular that I said 'screw work they can wait!'. So I drove to a nearby location and did a quick 5 minute shoot. I didn't want to take long and I knew what I'd like to see. The light was pink and the moon was just in the right position. When the light was just hitting the top of the hills in the foreground I called it quits. The light had lost it's magic and went from pink to orange, losing it's contrast with the browns in the grass.

Coming home tonight though, the image was far more complicated then I had expected. It took me quite a few layers to get it to this point. Adjusting area after area after area.

Mount Pilatus with Lake Lucerne, Central Switzerland

Mount Pilatus is situated at the doorstep of Lucerne. It's 2128m / 6981ft, reachable by several marked hiking pathes and, of course, via cable car. Very close to this mountain is Lake Lucerne, one of the most complex shaped and really beautiful big lakes of Switzerland. If any photographer visits central Switzerland, Lake Lucerne is a must-see.

This photo was taken from a beautiful place with an half-official fireplace, so be sure I enjoyed this sunset with wine and grilled stuff...

What is Plus Extract?

It's your DAILY dose of TOP Google Plus photographs, which were chosen by an algorithm that combines automatic steps and manual curation. This means that the DAILY TOPs are NOT based solely on popularity, and users with a small number of followers have a chance to be featured in the TOP. We use Google+ API for the automatic steps; Jarek Klimek is responsible for curation and communication with the authors.

We strongly respect the authors and their rights. +Jarek Klimek contacts every photographer featured in all DAILY TOPs and if any author decides that he/she doesn't want to be featured in the TOP, we respect this absolutely.

Catherine Hall About us and Google+

Google+ has flourished into a bustling online community for photographers – and one reason is the exceptional contribution of early adopters such as Jarek Klimek, Editor of PhotoExtract magazine.

Jarek had the foresight to research the new social network and created an authoritative list of photographers to follow on Google+.

His viral list has not only become one of the top referring resources of photography trailblazers, it is also shared and watched by leaders such as Guy Kawasaki, Robert Scoble and Darren Rowse.

Jarek has helped introduce the work of great photographers to Google+ photography enthusiasts and I was very excited to share his insights with viewers on TWiT Photo.
