Why I love being a photographer...

This is one of my favorite photos from my Vietnam trip in November. I enjoy finding beauty in mundane, every-day activities, which is why I love being a photographer ... We just see things differently.

If you've ever been with your camera around non-photographer friends or family, you know the funny looks you get when you stop to photograph a crack in the wall, or something random in the street. The woman in this photo chuckled as I squished through the mud in the field and asked if I could photograph her ... I doubt she could see herself the same way I did.

All installed and ready to take this long exposure, a group of people suddenly appeared. I didn't have much time ... Instead of waiting that they disappeared, I pushed the button and like the result. My first walk with ghosts for 27 seconds ;)

Luring Decadence Lastly this week, Experiment #3 with model JoAnna Navarro. I finally feel that I know where my heart is leading. Perfect ending to the week before my departure. Leaves my brain buzzing with all the possibilites for when I return.

I'm quite looking forward to spending the holidays in DC. How are you spending them?!

No, this is not a woman, but a man....I see this guy every time I go to the harbor in North Jakarta...a great face, heh?

Does this fit for #silhouetteThursday? Oh what a glorious morning it was today...

I posted this shortly after I joined G+ with the heading: "This was an awesome cloud." (and it was). I think I had ~300 people following me at the time. So here it is again. :)

PS. Check out +Elena Karneeva's work. She's an amazing photographer and doesn't have many followers just yet.

Does this image make you thirsty? not for water but to head to the Zion Narrows...

I know it does for me! This is the light at the end of the tunnel we all want to see ;-)

I wanted to share an image that was a departure from some of the recent tone-mapped HDR shots that made it to my profile over the past few days. Overall, and despite this cold that I am battling, it finally feels like I am getting back into a routine of editing photos - which is beyond joyful these days.

This was another shot taken during the Google+ photowalk held on Alki Beach, Seattle this past Saturday. I decided to go more somber with the stylization so as to accentuate the mood.

You guys are probably sick of seeing all the waterfall shots from me over the past couple months but I promise this is the last of them. This photo of Punchbowl Falls is a personal favorite from this autumn and I’ve decided to hold off on posting it until now. It was taken at the start of a very productive day in the Gorge, where I managed to visit ten waterfalls while hiking from sunrise until sunset. I started my morning at Eagle Creek and quickly made it to Metlako Falls and then eventually to Punchbowl. As I got set up, sun started to break through the fog, illuminating the upper part of the scene with a warm, diffused light. Prior to this, I had a couple failed outings due to poor weather so it was nice to start the day with this kind of luck for a change.

What is Plus Extract?

It's your DAILY dose of TOP Google Plus photographs, which were chosen by an algorithm that combines automatic steps and manual curation. This means that the DAILY TOPs are NOT based solely on popularity, and users with a small number of followers have a chance to be featured in the TOP. We use Google+ API for the automatic steps; Jarek Klimek is responsible for curation and communication with the authors.

We strongly respect the authors and their rights. +Jarek Klimek contacts every photographer featured in all DAILY TOPs and if any author decides that he/she doesn't want to be featured in the TOP, we respect this absolutely.

Catherine Hall About us and Google+

Google+ has flourished into a bustling online community for photographers – and one reason is the exceptional contribution of early adopters such as Jarek Klimek, Editor of PhotoExtract magazine.

Jarek had the foresight to research the new social network and created an authoritative list of photographers to follow on Google+.

His viral list has not only become one of the top referring resources of photography trailblazers, it is also shared and watched by leaders such as Guy Kawasaki, Robert Scoble and Darren Rowse.

Jarek has helped introduce the work of great photographers to Google+ photography enthusiasts and I was very excited to share his insights with viewers on TWiT Photo.
