Before the afternoon arrives...

I am off to Death Valley! And wouldn't you know it, there is rain predicted over my workshop in one of the driest areas of the world! Haha! I've got my umbrellas packed and can only hope there will be some good light and drama if we have to endure a little wetness.

And it is #MonochromeMonday once again! I may post from the road, but once in the valley, cell reception is almost zero, so until then...

Sometimes you get the drama of the clouds, Sometimes you get the Glow

On a trip to Mowich Lake at the base of the North side of Mt. rainier, the sky was blah, but as the sun started setting it was a sight to behold. This was the first view I had as I turned a corner of the road. The rolling, tree filled hills against the glow of the mountain made it difficult not to stop and take this shot.

One more for the #MonochromeMonday curated by +Siddharth Pandit. The truly amazing Sextantio albergo diffuso in Santo Stefano di Sassanio.

I shared this one as a limited post and when I noticed that there was not a way (or at least I did not find one) of adding more "audience" to this post. A -1, G+! Here we go again, sorry folks. #potd #photography

High Tide - They say the camera never lies, but this picture completely betrays what was actually taking place in front of it. The tide is powerful here, and the rushing water was carrying tree trunks, branches and all sorts of other stuff with it. With a long enough shutter speed though, it all disappears in to calmness. The mostly submerged frame in the foreground is used to mount baskets on to catch salmon.

Another from the #DeathValley archives, tweaking some new photo editing techniques and working on some additions to my website.

I hope to make it back out to this location in early 2012, hopefully with a different twist than before!

- shot taken during the red transition to orange phase of the sunrise. was after the red/purple romantic feel and mood.

How? It's easy:

Last week, I got a chance to visit the Oregon coast and see Thor's Well. I could have just sat there all day and watched the water come out of the well. I hope I get a chance to visit this place again.

What is Plus Extract?

It's your DAILY dose of TOP Google Plus photographs, which were chosen by an algorithm that combines automatic steps and manual curation. This means that the DAILY TOPs are NOT based solely on popularity, and users with a small number of followers have a chance to be featured in the TOP. We use Google+ API for the automatic steps; Jarek Klimek is responsible for curation and communication with the authors.

We strongly respect the authors and their rights. +Jarek Klimek contacts every photographer featured in all DAILY TOPs and if any author decides that he/she doesn't want to be featured in the TOP, we respect this absolutely.

Catherine Hall About us and Google+

Google+ has flourished into a bustling online community for photographers – and one reason is the exceptional contribution of early adopters such as Jarek Klimek, Editor of PhotoExtract magazine.

Jarek had the foresight to research the new social network and created an authoritative list of photographers to follow on Google+.

His viral list has not only become one of the top referring resources of photography trailblazers, it is also shared and watched by leaders such as Guy Kawasaki, Robert Scoble and Darren Rowse.

Jarek has helped introduce the work of great photographers to Google+ photography enthusiasts and I was very excited to share his insights with viewers on TWiT Photo.
