Desert Sand Day (and a bit of Sky Sunday)

When we passed through Death Valley National Park some years ago, the wind suddenly picked up and a big sand storm was formed. The huge sand cloud made its way along the valley and finally reached the mountains northwest of Stovepipe Wells and the famous sand dunes. Looking at a map, I'd guess is that the height of the sand cloud was closer to 1000 meters than 500 meters. Anyway, it was a magnificent sight (but not that fun when we where in the middle of it).

Passerelle Simone de Beauvoir II

Last night, I went out for a photowalk in Paris, near a place called "Bibliothèque Francois Mitterand", a huge library. A superb bridge crosses the Seine river.. I had to shoot it !

I especially like the two guys, sitting in the background. They were looking at me probably thinking "What the hell is he doing !?" ^^
You can see my jeans and shoes. Next time I ll be a "man in black", no more visible clothes on the photographs !

More to come. Light is Life !

The fog was just too thick to pass up a couple of days ago. I'm still actively searching for locations for my continuing blur series but there are a number of LE seascape compositions I have my eye on if the right weather conditions arise.

L'arbre et le soleil

An autumnal scene taken this morning at the park of "Buisson Rond".
I used 3 exposures (-2ev; 0ev; +2ev) and photomatix for making the HDR processing.
Autumn is great for beautiful lights and colors ;-)

This is one from two years ago, during the annual rut at Richmond Park in England. At about eight o'clock one morning, we saw this stag chase off a rival leaving behind this golden sunlit scene. Thinking he’d eventually return to his harem, we waited under the canopy until he walked back into the path of sunlight, then he roared and I took the picture.

Another urban scene in Georgetown, on Penang island, Malaysia. I love how the mural seem to incorporate the stains on the old wall into the artwork.

Doorway

The rays of the setting sun shoot through a keyhole in the rock, cut by the power of the waves over time. The coastline along Big Sur in California are truly an incredible place to photograph. I hope to return there again this year for some photography fun, and a chance to no doubt get soaked again!

This photo is just for fun. The humpback whales (a female with its calf) are in the background, behind the barracuda school. For some reason, the fish insisted on swimming in a vertical orientation and wouldn't turn sideways to pose nicely. Sigh

What is Plus Extract?

It's your DAILY dose of TOP Google Plus photographs, which were chosen by an algorithm that combines automatic steps and manual curation. This means that the DAILY TOPs are NOT based solely on popularity, and users with a small number of followers have a chance to be featured in the TOP. We use Google+ API for the automatic steps; Jarek Klimek is responsible for curation and communication with the authors.

We strongly respect the authors and their rights. +Jarek Klimek contacts every photographer featured in all DAILY TOPs and if any author decides that he/she doesn't want to be featured in the TOP, we respect this absolutely.

Catherine Hall About us and Google+

Google+ has flourished into a bustling online community for photographers – and one reason is the exceptional contribution of early adopters such as Jarek Klimek, Editor of PhotoExtract magazine.

Jarek had the foresight to research the new social network and created an authoritative list of photographers to follow on Google+.

His viral list has not only become one of the top referring resources of photography trailblazers, it is also shared and watched by leaders such as Guy Kawasaki, Robert Scoble and Darren Rowse.

Jarek has helped introduce the work of great photographers to Google+ photography enthusiasts and I was very excited to share his insights with viewers on TWiT Photo.
