Photo news - 21. august 2008

Microsoft has publicly released Photosynth, a way of combining conventional images to create 3D scenes. After you upload a set of images, the software analyzes each for similarities to the others, and then it uses this data to build a model of where the photos were taken.  A viewer can then browse through the final photograph, navigating smoothly and zooming in tiny details.

Rounding out this week's camera announcements are three models from Casio. The first two are stylish ultra-compacts with wide-angle zoom lenses. Here are their specs:

Yesterday also brought the announcement of the new Ricoh R10, which is the follow-up to the R8. Here are the notable features on this new camera which, incidentally, is only sold through two resellers in the USA.
