The Photograph's Life Cycle on PhotoExtract.com

The life cycle of every photograph starts at the moment of its submittion to our photography gallery. The day of the submition is called Day 1. The life cycle then continues in these phases:

• Nominations
  Every photograph can receive NOMINATIONS during the first 24 hours after its submittion.
• Choosing
  Our editor in chief CHOOSES the photographs that will be featured till the end of Day 3.
• Featured and Waiting
  The editor's decision becomes public at the beginning of Day 4. The chosen photographs get a status of Featured and Waiting and will be published in our online magazine immediately or in the next few days.

Nominations: Day 1 - Day 2

• NOMINATIONS take place during the first 24 hours after the submission of a particular photograph.
• Any photography enthusiast can nominate photographs he really likes.
• Hitting the Nominate button is equivalent to saying: "I would like to see this photograph in one of the posts in the Photoextract.com photography magazine."

Notes:

• Photographers should submit photographs they consider their best ones.
• No photographer is allowed to submit a photograph more often than one in 24 hours.

Choosing: Till the End of Day 3

• During this period our editor decides which of the photographs will be featured.
• The number of nominations for a particular photograph is one of the most important criteria.
• The decision process takes place till the end of Day 3.

Featured and Waiting: Day 4

• The editor's decision becomes public at the beginning of Day 4.
• How many photographs does the editor mark as Featured and Waiting?
  There is no exact rule. The number usually varies between zero and five photographs a day.
• How many photographs do you feature on PhotoExtract’s homepage?
  One shot a day.
• What does the Featured and Waiting status mean?
  It means that the photograph has been marked as featured and is waiting for the earliest open spot in our editorial calendar to be published on our homepage.
• How long does it take before the photograph with a Featured and Waiting status gets published?
  Usually it's not more than ten days. Some photos are published almost immediately, so their Featured and Waiting period is only a few seconds.

Featured in the magazine

• The photograph's FaW (Featured and Waiting) status is changed to Featured status at the moment of its publication on the PhotoExtract homepage. The photographer's status is changed to "Recently Featured Photographer" during the next few hours. Read more about the Featured Photographer status.
